  1. Nancy, these reasons that you stated above, are exactly why I chose to start my own venture: flexible scheduling, independence, satisfying work.

    I wasn’t finding anytihng satisfying about the work I was doing for someone else. I always felt stifled – I always had to run my ideas by someone else and get buy-in before I ran with anything. Also, I was so tired of asking permission to take a day off… especially when I wanted the time off to spend with my daughter.

    I love the flexible schedule I enjoy and the freedom!

    I’m not shocked about the statistics you shared. I teach workshops each quarter and 90% of my attendees are women who are starting their own business.

    One thing I find interesting is that women lag behind men in business growth. For right now, I want to stay a one-woman show. I like working on my own, and I like supporting other women-owned businesses by purchasing services and products from them. I don’t want the responsibility of having employees at this point.
