<p>One of my favorite articles, on <a href="http://www.womensmedia.com/">WomensMedia</a>, is <i><strong><a href="../..%5CBlogs%20in%20Progress%5CCheat%20Sheet%20for%20Working%20Well%20with%20Men">Cheat Sheet for Working Well with Men</a></strong></i> by Gail Evans who was Executive V.P. of CNN. Gail gives 29 tips for women in business in her article and there’s not a single one that I’d edit out!</p>
<p>If I had to pick my favorite piece of business advice for women—well I will—it’s this one:</p>
<p><strong>Your co-workers are not your family.</strong> You don’t pick them and it doesn’t matter who you like or dislike. It may be unpleasant, but you simply have to work with them. You have to be more strategic, listen more, and protect yourself. These are good skills to hone.</p>
<p>I’ve received emails asking for advice on handling difficult women who work with you—particularly the type of women who smile at you and then sabotage you behind your back. My <strong>Women in Business Tip of the Week</strong> gives you that advice, without resulting in a catfight.</p>

<p><em>We women know that we’re different from men, but (and here come the disclaimers), make no mistake, we’re not all alike!  And some men are very good with so-called feminine traits, such as emotional sensitivity and multitasking, among others.  And as I said in a previous podcast, a big part of why we’re different might be attributed to pressures other than genetics. </em><em> </em></p>
<p>As for the current business world, it’s been structured in a manner that’s most comfortable for men. And the men have done a good job. Thank you! But the business world is changing:  Women are trying to fit in and other economies are coming into play with creative ideas. Our current business climate needs to weather the storm—with flexibility, cultural and emotional sensitivity, and speed. This is a perfect fit if business decides to make it easy to assimilate the traits—or <strong><em>talents</em></strong>, as I like to say—women have to offer. Here are the talents most often attributed to women.</p>

It didn’t matter what other people thought of me as much as what I thought of myself. I have to make sure this NEVER happens again! “ Then each woman then began to develop her own techniques to put into action whenever she felt this might start happening again. And the good news here is that the high-level executives I talked with said they’ve learned to control this behavior.</p>
